DAY 3
we have a mighty god who strengthens us
Today, we’re going to focus on the truth that our God is mighty. As well as this chapter revealing the mercy of God it also focuses on the supreme and unique might of our God, and unpacks how He uses His power to deliver, strengthen and sustain His people. Isaiah 40v10 says, ‘See, the Sovereign LORD comes with power, and he rules with a mighty arm.’
Our God is the Mighty Creator, the one who ‘…has measured the waters in the hollow of his hand… and has weighed the mountains on the scales…’ – Isaiah 40:12
Our God is King, who, for all eternity ‘… sits enthroned above the circle of the earth… the one who brings princes to nought and reduces the rulers of this world to nothing.’ – Isaiah 40:22-23
Our God is the Mighty Sustainer, who ‘…brings out the starry host one by one and calls forth each of them by name. Because of his great power and mighty strength, not one of them is missing.’ – Isaiah 40:26
QUOTABLE QUOTE
God is able to place stars in their sockets and suspend sky like a curtain; surely He is mighty enough to light your path.

preach - part three
by Dave Smith
The LORD is the everlasting God, having no beginning or end. He always was, always is, and always will be. Therefore, there is nothing in the past or future that is outside of His knowledge. He is the Creator and Sustainer of the whole earth and everything in it.
He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak. Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary; they will walk and not be faint.
– Isaiah 40:29-31
We can sometimes get overwhelmed by life’s circumstances and think that maybe God doesn’t see our way or has even disregarded our situation. But here we see a supernatural strength that never runs out because it’s the very strength of God Himself. We can exchange our weakness for His strength, our unbelief for His faith, our discouragement for His encouragement, and our sense of loss for His hope.
Who are those who receive and keep on receiving this supernatural strength? Those who ‘…hope in the Lord’ – or other translations say, ‘…wait on the Lord’. It’s an inner attitude of trust and reliance on the Lord, not on ourselves or our surroundings. It’s about a moment-by-moment dependence on him; it’s about a day-to-day surrender to Him as we set aside time to let Him meet with us and speak to us through His Word and in prayer.
When we receive more of God’s Spirit, we really will walk and not faint even though times may be tough; we’ll run and not grow weary. So, let’s keep going in pressured times, and just as eagles catch the winds and soar, so too, we will soar as we catch the wind of God’s mighty Spirit.
Prayer points
- Pray for a divine exchange to happen as you release areas of weakness, weariness, or discouragement. Pray for supernatural joy to come upon you, strengthening you from the inside out.
- Ask the Lord to put specific people on your heart who are sick in body, mind or soul. Pray for a fresh touch of the Holy Spirit to heal and restore them.
- Pray for salvation for people in your sphere of influence. There may be people that you’ve been praying for over a long period of time. Don’t give up on them or grow weary in praying for them. Ask for fresh faith to see them come to faith!
- As you walk in obedience to God’s Word and are faithful and generous with the resources God has given you, keep standing on the promises of God for miraculous provision.
pray for ukraine
Heavenly Father, hear our prayers for our brothers and sisters in Ukraine. Lord, we ask for peace for those who need peace, reconciliation for those who need reconciliation and comfort for all those who don’t know what tomorrow will bring. Lord, may Your kingdom come, and Your will be done. Lord God, we ask for you to be with all – especially children who are suffering as the crisis in Ukraine continues. For those who are anxious and fearful, for those who are bereaved, injured - Lord hear our prayers. Lord, we ask that decision makers, parents protecting their children, and church leaders as they support and comfort people, hear Your voice. And Lord, we ask for wise actions from global leaders, who have the power not only to start wars but to stop them, too. And Father God, we cry out for an end to this crisis, for mercy, peace, power and love. Amen.
Because of your generous giving we have given £28,979.33 out of our Mission Fund to help churches in Ukraine, Romania and Poland support the refugee crisis in Ukraine.
